No Time to Think
I'm so stressed right now I don't even have time to think. As much as I thought I appreciated my teachers when I was a student, I realize now that I've started teaching at Erindale that I didn't appreciate them nearly enough. It's amazing how many things you need to stay on top of when you're in front of a class. And don't even get me started on lesson planning.
The poem "The Difference" is running through the back of my head, but still I haven't been able to settle down to spend time with God. I think it's because as much as I know in my head that God provides rest, I think that in terms of actual believe I work under the conception that relaxation is reading a book or watching hockey or vegging out.
Anyway, here's "The Difference" if you haven't seen this before:
I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish, I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me and grew heavier with each task;
Why doesn't God help me, I wondered; He answered, "You didn't ask."
I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me - He said, "But you didn't seek."
I tried to come into God's presence; I used all my keys at the lock;
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.
